Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Who do ask to move out?

I am 17 and in 3 months I turn 18 but I live with my father who has custody of me. My question is if im 17 does custody count anymore? Or can I choose who I live with. If so, I choose to live with my mother which leads to my main question if I decide to move out before the age of 18 whose permission do I have to have to move out?

Re: Who do ask to move out?

Basically the day you turn 18 you are an adult and you can do whatever you want.

"Technically" until you turn 18, your father's in charge.

If you want to move, you "technically" need his permission.

At 17 you are an adult for criminal law purposes but not for anything else.

Good luck!
