When could I move out?

I am a seventeen year old woman living in Texas. I would like to know if it is legal to move out of my.parents home right now?

Yes and no.

You are still a child under the law. You are not an adult until you are 18 years old.

HOWEVER, under the criminal laws of Texas, you are treated as an adult once you turn 17, which means that you are not considered a runaway at 17. Also if you notify your parents/local police of your new address, then you are not considered a missing person.

You cannot sign legal documents, including leases and utility services.

If there are court orders regarding your residence (probation, SAPCR, divorce, truancy, etc) then your residence may be restricted by the court.
