Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

moving out of county

I just got custody of my kids. The updated orders state that I can move within thee county or any county that is adjoined. My question is my new spouse has a great job opportunity that would require a move to a county two over from the current county we are in....what are the options without having to go to court to get it ok'd? The move would actually keep me closer to my ex versus moving to an adjoining county....Out side of her agreeing to the move, is there anything the court would do to prevent it?

The concern of the court is "what is in the best interest of the children". Without an agreement, you will have to file a motion to modify to change the distance limitation. If you can convince the court that it is closer and better for the X to visit, then you should be able to prevail. I don't know where you are but this could take some time. Request court ordered mediation on this subject. It could be faster and cheaper in the long run.
