Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Murder\suiside

My x-wife was killed in a murder\suicide. I have 2 children with her 17 and 14 years old. We have joint custody but there is not will. I have stepped back and let her family hadle things but they are tring to control where the kids want to live. What do I need to do?
