Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Named on Credit Card Debt

My ex and I have a joint credit card we are paying off. I would like to pay off my half and have my name removed from this debt. Ex will not sign document removing my name. What other avenues can I pursue to get my name off of this card as a secondary card holder?

The creditor cannot be forced to accept the terms of the decree and take your name off of the account. You may want to contact the creditor and propose that you pay your share in full, they remove your name from the existing account and open a separate account in your name. It's worth a try. Otherwise, you should place the future payments in a separate interest-bearing account, so that it is readily available in the event he is willing to also pay off his share of the account. TCL

Check with the credit card company on what they need.
