Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

newborn child

well a mother gives birth to a child and does not want to see child and signs baby away, the child is in a new home with a real mother and father, now about 2 weeks after everything, the mother wants the child back, note, mother has felony record and history of drug abuse and no job, what else can we do to keep this child has our own?

You didn't say whether the mother signed over her parental rights. Were you using an adoption agency. What is your relationship to the mother or child? Adoption is very tricky and needs to be correctly handled from the very start which should be before the child is even born. I suggest you contact an attorney and see if anything can be done. Time is not on your side so don't delay.

You can't just "sign away" a child. If you don't have an adoption decree or a custody order, you don't have anything and a court is not going to look good on what you've tried to do. Find a lawyer first thing tomorrow morning and see if this situation can be fixed. Sometimes it can -- sometimes it can't.
