Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

non biological fathers rights

I have a 6yr daughter who isnt biologically mine but i did sign the birthcertificate. The divorce was final july3rd 2008 and i was ordered to pay childsupport. I was given the oppurtunity to sign over my rights to her but didnt cuz i didnt know if i wanted to. I now want to because I found out that her real father is seeing her and spending time with her and so is my ex. Can I sign over my rights to her? My ex and my daughters real father arent getting married but I just want to know if i can legally sign over my rights and what is all involved in doing so. I'm from texas

Re: non biological fathers rights

You need to contact an attorney in your area immediately. If the divorce was signed on July3rd, you are still within the 30 day window for filing a Motion for New Trial, which is your only hope. If that motion is not filed within 30 days of the signing of the decree, then the judgment becomes final and you will never be able to contest it or set it aside.
