Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Non Custodial Parent Obligations

My husbnd had a child out of wetlock with another women outside of his previous marriage. The child should b @ 16 yrs old. We initiated a case with the attorney general for child support and mom did not want to comply. Four years later she initiates a case and now is asking for child support. What are our rights. Attorney general claims they can go as 4 years back and they will not provide copies to us from our previous case to show proof that we asked for this 4 years ago. They are asking too much money and we cannot afford to pay. HELP! Please

Re: Non Custodial Parent Obligations

Child support can go back to day 1; so, I don't know what is meant by 4 years. Child support is based upon an income guideline for all children subject to support. Make sure the child support is calculated correctly. Often times, it is very economical to hire a lawyer for assistance in these matter. Sometimes you can save enough money in the first year to pay the attorneys fee.
