Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Non-custodial over bearing control

We have joint custody, I am managing conservator. Every time I sign up my children for any extra curricular activities my ex runs and protest to be the coach or leader and leagues let him. I want to coach my kids and let them experience the leadership of other adults. He calls all the leagues behind my back and protests to coach his kids. Is there any way to get him to back off? He schedules practices so that it allows his visitation to be daily, I am going nuts and it is embarrasing. I hate for my kids to miss out on activities.

There very little you can do from a legal standpoint. You are stuck with him.

I had to smile when I read this, as I can imagine that it is very embarrassing all the way around. On the other hand, remember that it reflects on him, not you; and most people dealing with kid activities and sports leagues are used to a wide variety of nutty parents.

At least on the positive side of the coin -- your kids have another involved parent -- which no matter how annoying to you, beats having the non-existent deadbeat parent.

Good luck.
