Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I am the non-custodial parent have received notice of review and Child Support Review Questionnaire and indicates that I must provide a number of financial documents. I have researched the Child Support Review Process in Texas and am confused. A week before I received the letter, I had planned to seek legal counsel and file suit for custody (mother is a danger).
Is this a voluntary administrative process intended to result in negotiation between the parents? I plan to file suit for custody and do not know if I should provide the requested documents to the OAG. I have not met with a lawyer yet (I will) but my documents are "due" in a few days.
How do I proceed with the Texas OAG if I do not wish to pursue the CSRP but intend to go to court. Do I still need to provide the documents?

Talk to a family law attorney in your area immediately. The OAG cannot prevent you from filing suit for custody and the issue of child support can generally be rolled into that suit. A change to custody is likely to affect the child support obligations which will necessarily bring the child support issue into the suit. Unfortunately you will find the OAG also involved in your suit but they will usually back off if they know the parties are litigating child support.
