Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
non-minor child running away from home
My 19 year old fiance is currently a college student and claimed as a dependent by her parents for last year's taxes. She's planning on running away from home at the end of the school year (but we're not eloping). She was wondering what she could legally take with her; are clothes that her parents paid for her property? Will she be no longer covered by their health insurance? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: non-minor child running away from home
Well, it's not running away when you are 19 years old (unless she is disabled and under some sort of guardianship). It is growing up. Her clothes are hers as they were gifts to her. She should talk to her parents and most parents are delighted that the child is finally moving out. As for insurance, she should read the policy and consider that in light of what efforts she continues to expend toward education...
It will be a good practice, that. Adults should read their insurance policies and contracts.
