Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I was trying to see about obtaining back child support. I spoke with the attorney general office and they informed me that my case was not monitored by them but by the court and that i would have to go back through the family court. I am not sure about how to go about that or if i can because the order was made in 1996 and my son is now 19. Any assistance u can give would be greatly appreciated.
