Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

online legal forms

Are ''online'' legal forms just as good and accepted as having them drawn up by an attorney? I need a power of attorney and have seen many offers online but am hesitant because I am unsure of their legitimacy and acceptance.

Unfortunately, an attorney cannot comment on the validity of a form, without reviewing the form. The primary question would be what is the purpose fo the power of attorney, and what are the consequences if not properly prepared or filled in? Some forms for some situations are perfectly reasonable and enforceable, but it is impossible to know without reviewing it. I apologize for the catch22. There are some sites which are more reliable than others. Research the site. TCL

Beware of executing a power of attorney. You did not describe what kind of power of attorney you were considering signing. There are more than one kind in Texas. One for health care and one for financial matters.

Beware of the financial poa. It is one of the most powerful documents you can sign!

If you give the person the right to handle your financial affairs, the person could access all of your assets and move out of the country.

I, therefore, urge you to discuss this matter with an attorney before executing such a powerful and potentially dangerous document.
