Opening Statement for a Pro Se divorce

My husband and I are in the middle of a no fault divorce in Texas. We've filed the paper work and I will be in court to present the final decree to the judge on Sept. 5th. My husband has signed the document waiving his right to be present, so I'll be there alone. What exactly should I say to the judge if I am representing myself in this situation? I know there has to be proper ettiquite and I want to do everything correctly. Thanks for your help.

i don't know where you are, but most judges will assist a pro se petitioner to prove up a divorce. since I haven't seen your petition, I don't know the facts of your divorce. If the judge won't help you, he might ask an attorney in the court room to assist you as a favor to the court. Good Luck.

I agree with Mr. Grissom. From your post, you may be in Collin County. If so, the judges has provided a checklist for you to follow, which you can get from the librarian at the law library at the courthouse.
