Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
opposing attorney communication
My divorce attorney is filing a motion to withdraw because I haven't been able to pay her whole bill. I have been making payments when I have extra money left from paying my bills. So far I have paid over half the total. The divorce is headed for trial. My husband's attorney told him about the motion and my husband told me , before I ever heard about it from my attorney. Is that ethical? Does my attorney have any obligation to talk to me first? She has always been very slow to respond to my questions sent by email sometimes taking weeks to get back to me (I am in Houston, she is in Dallas) Does she have any obligation to be prompt with answering my questions ?

This response is actually not an answer to your question, but it might have solved your problem in the first place, and might still.
Don't pay your lawyer when you have money left over from paying other bills. Especially when you are headed to trial. Pay your lawyer before you pay your other bills.

All your other questions aside, I normally tell my clients that I'm glad to have them email me, but if it's something I need to see NOW then they better call and tell my office to print it out for me. Perhaps your attorney is similar.
