Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
i was ordered to have a social study because my x-husband now wants custody after 11 years. i was awarded a substanial amout of child support and he filed a motion to modify custody. the social study came back negatively aganist me because of prior criminal history and mental health issues and the social worker stated the children were fine here but it was her reccomendation that they live with their father. is this going to pose a problem when the trial arrives, in other words, will my children have to go with him after so many years have passed. he has never been in their lives untill 2 years ago when the child support was awarded

The social study is a big factor in a custody case. Some judges unfailingly go by what it recommends.
In order to beat it, you might consider asking for psychological evaluations of the parties and the child. This is expensive ($5000-$8000).
