Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

When I orginally divorced I didn't file for child support because my ex agreed to help with the financial care of our son. However, as you can image things have change with a new girlfriend in the picture. I filed for child support and because he doesn't want me touching his money he has now counter filed for custody of your son (no surprise). The courts have requested a social study, which I think it great. Today, my ex requested the name and address of the counselor that I pay for so that I can help my son work through some of our communciation issues. My question is this "Do I have to give him this information?" This is not a doctor, physican or school and the reason for the counselor was for my son and I to work on our communication issues. My ex stated that he wanted to call and speak with the counselor, I want to do the right thing but I want to be sure that I'm required to provide this information since I already gave this information to the social study department.

He would be entitled to this information if he sent you a formal discovery request. You can give it to him informally if you want to. You don't have to.

If you gave the information to the social study folks, he'll find out anyway when he gets his copy of the report.
