Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Overseas Divorce

I am currently pregnant and plan to file for divorce as soon as the baby is born. I would also be leaving shortly after to go to Iraq. I would be making quite bit of money, would my husband be able to take me for any money?I would I lose custody of the baby and my hard earned money. The plan is to leave the child with my mother until I come back could he state I abanoned the child?

Re: Overseas Divorce

You can file for divorce while you are pregnant.

If he wants custody of the baby, he might be able to get it. Parent rights are superior to grandparent rights.

Can he get your money? If he gets custody of the child, your child support would be based on your Iraq income.

Depending on the situation, he might be able to get spousal support.

You definately need to talk to an attorney ASAP.

I would ask you to reconsider leaving a brand new baby and going overseas. Many doctors believe that breast milk for the first year is the best thing for a baby.

If you go, please take out a lot of life insurance so that your child can be cared for in case you are killed.

I charge $150 per hour to talk.
