Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Papers served Saturday to appear in court on Wednesday... please Help!

I have been divorced since 12-13-01. My exhusband is a very controlling person and had the divorce and child custody papers arranged to convenience him all the way. I agreed with them trying to get along with him as much as I could for the sake of our son.

The only thing I asked for was that I be named custodial parent and I was.

We have had many disagreements in the last year and a half

but I have never tried to keep him from seeing his son whenever he wanted to.

On Saturday May 10th I recieved papers that he was suing me for more... I am supposed to be in court by Wednesday May 14th.

He wants to be named custodial parent now and also have child support payments terminated...

He has a very good job and doesn't even pay what he should be paying. I think the only reason he is doing all this is because he wants to change our son's school that he attends to have more control.

Most of the big problem's started after I started getting on with my life.

I recently lost my job and due to prior obligations cant really afford an attorney at this time.

What can I do?

Please help....

Thank you

Kathy

Go to court and ask the judge for a continuance. You really need a lawyer to help you on this one. You were not given enough time to be prepared. A continuance will change the date of the hearing and give you time to get the help you need. Good luck.
