getting a parent to sign there rights away

My son is 7 years old and his dad has had nothing to do with him for almost 7 years. He was supposed to pay court ordered child suppoer, never did went to prison, is still there but abou to get out. He has a very volient background and has showed no interest in his son in the last 7 years can i make him sign his rights away or does he have to agree to it?

You could file a petition to terminate the parental rights. I can't say whether or not it would work. Depends on the judge. If your ex doesn't contest it, might work. good Luck
