Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

parental rights

I am a mom to be and need to know the parental rights to my ex boyfriend. I think he has a history of domestic violence from his previous marriage and i am really uncomfortable with him having anything to do with our daughter. I dont want child support from him and he lives in another state (colorado) Is there anything i can do to prevent him from taking my child?

Re: parental rights

You need to get a lawyer to file a Suit Affecting Parent-Child Relationship. It will establish the boundaries for child support, visitation and conservatorship. It is difficult to obtain an order denying visitation to him, unless you can prove that he is a danger to the child. Even then it will probably be supervised visitation. The order will prevent hiding or secreting the child.
