Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Parental rights terminated in Maine, but still required to pay support by Texas

I'm the father of the child named in the case who resides, with her Mother, in Maine.

I was sued for child support through interstate compact by The State of Maine on behalf of the Mother. The mother verbally agreed to sign termination papers in Texas if I would sign termination papers in Maine. After I signed termination papers in Maine, the mother refused to sign termination papers in Texas. Tarrant county courts refused to acknowledge the termination in Maine, but did acknowledge the support request from Maine. The mother has since married and verbally informed me that the child has been adopted by her husband. I have no access to the adoption records as I have no rights in Maine, yet Texas still requires me to pay child support.

How do I get Texas to allow me to stop paying child support?

You need an attorney. The adoption can be registered and recognized here, as can the termination. In Texas, these two procedures are normally done simultaneously. Here, it is unlikely a judge would enforce the termination until there was an adoption. Now that there is, you will probably be successful.
