It actually depends. Which parent is designated as the one with the right to establish the primary residence? Is there a school district restriction in the order? What does the proposed school district require in order to legally register? Will the other parent be seriously inconvenienced? Will the other parent be angered? This is not a trivial issue, and should be made in the child's best interest, not as part of a power struggle. It would be best for the two parents to sit down, discuss it, and reach a compromise or negotiated agreement.

For the most part, I agree with the above answer.

- However, if you can't work it out, and if the order is not specific, that was a mistake in the drafting of your current order, and if you can't work things out with the child's mother, then, you will need to go back to court to modify the orders. I would also have your lawyer look at other issues in your decree that need clarification and or modification so you handle it all at once.
