Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

paternity and back child support

my husband was recently served hit with papers saying he had to pay back child support of 12 years for a child he believes may not be his. He asked for a paternity test from his ex-wife but lost contact with her and hasn't had any contact with her. He didn't even sign his divorce papers because his mail was not forwarded so he didn't know what the papers ordered him to do. He was young and didn't check on the divorce decree. The back child support is $40,000+. Can we do anything?

Re: paternity and back child support

Run (don't walk) to an attorney's office.

Being young and stupid, is not grounds to void paternity.
