Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Paternity

My ex-gilfriend recently had a baby and told everyone that it was mine. I found out that she was sleeping with other people while we were togoether. When the baby was born she left the fathers name section of the birth certificate blank. She refuses to take a paternity test. My question is can she force me to pay child support in the future even though my name isn't on the birth certificate? Is there any way I could force her to take a paternity test?

Re: Paternity

She can identify you as the father and request child support. At that time, you can request a blood test of you, her and the child to prove paternity. Blood tests usually cost about $200 throught the AG's office or $500-$600 through private services. You can initiate paternity proceedings and request a blood test through that process.. Court filing fees and service of citation usually cost about $250-$350. I don't know what an attorney might charge you in your area.
