Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Paternity questioning wether or not to get tested

My husband has an almost 4 year old son who has never had paternity testing. There is question wether or not he is his child. We have supervised visits and would like to have him tested but don't know the best way to do it. We pay $400 a month in support (180 for ins.) He is covered with his stepbrother by his stepfather but we still pay for the ins. that he already has. Is that standard? Should we inform the mother? Do we need to retain a lawyer first? An AOP was signed at birth and the child will be 4 yrs old on Nov 11 of this year. Is it to late to question paternity?

What questioning of paternity? There's already been a judicial finding of paternity. The time for that question has passed.
