Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Paternity Test before court date or not?

Ok, thank you so much for your fast response. It was the subject of signing over rights. Should my son have the paternity test done before the court appearance, or not? If before the court appearance, how does that work?

Also, you stated that he would need a court order from a Judge to sign over his rights? How does one go about that?

Re: Paternity Test before court date or not?

IF he is the father, he needs a court order to terminate rights, and it is highly unlikely (read 'not going to happen') that a judge will allow it. The judge is not terribly concerned with the wants of the mom and dad, but with the needs of the child, and it is in the child's best interest to be supported by two parents.
