I over pay in child support

My child support is garnished from my paycheck. Sometimes, I get 3 paychecks in a month....such as March 2, 16, & 30, 2007. I went to the office where my child support was ordered and the secretary told me I am not entitled to this money until my son turns 18. I want the extra money for him as a graduation present...so, it doesn't bother me but, are they allowed to do that? I have no say in what my child support goes to or what?

Re: I over pay in child support

No. You have no say so how the child support is spent. It goes to the parent with custody and is rarely sufficient by itself for the care of a child.
