Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
What do I do if I've been paying child support but the attorney general says I owe 10,000 in back child support.

Hire an attorney immediately!
This is not something you should attempt to do on your own.
I've seen one man successfully win but he was a banker & he spent 2 years fighting with the TX A G. He had the written proof (hint - he was a banker & had the paperwork from his bank to prove it). It took him 2 years because his paperwork kept getting "lost" and the TX A G would not "accept" it. I cannot imagine how many hours he spent working on this & how any certified letters he sent to the TX A G office. He eventually hired me to finish it the last little bit of work necessary, because he was worn out -- but he'd done the bulk of the work himself.
The TX A G make mistakes all the time. But the burden is on you to prove that their records are wrong! Hopefully you have written proof to back up your claims!
Look on this website & on www.avvo.com for an experienced family law attorney. I would be sure to ask the attorney how many cases like yours they have handled. These cases are tough to win. These cases are a real pain for the attorney - the TX A G office has unlimited resources at their disposal.
