Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I have been paying child support for 16 years and will do so until I die because my son is a special needs person. In my last modification (2002) it states that I can continue to pay directly to the Child Support Registry and that my employer need not be notified unless I'm in arrears and my ex was OK with this becuase she knows that I pay in a timely manner. I just don't want my employer to know my business. Well, everything was just fine until 2 months ago when the Child Support notified my employer to start making deductions. I called them and told them to read the divorde decree which stated I can pay directlly. They said that I was in arrears so I had to prove that I was not and my ex reinforced that, but I'm still getting deducted from my paycheck. I'm getting ready to change jobs so my question is can I make them abide by the decree or can the Child Support Registry do whatever the hell they want?
Thank you.

You've found out something that so many other people know: the Attorney General's office is a bunch of stupid, heavy-handed, small-minded bureaucrats.
Unfortunately, your remedy is to sue them for contempt for violating a court order. You'll have to hire a lawyer.
