Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
paying support for a child who lives with strangers
I pay temp support to my ex for my 15 yr old, ex has temp custody. but I just found out daughter has been living with a school friend's family for the past six months with no support offered by my ex to these people she is living with. I have no control over my daughter and her mother couldn't care less what she is doing or where she is. She is constantly getting into trouble, drinking, drugs, threatening suicide, she was committed to a mental hospital for this, and released 3 days later.
Daughter wants her mother to have custody so she can continue to run the streets with no rules whatsoever. I am worried that my daughter is going to end up in jail or dead living the lifestyle she is being allowed to live. I don't know what my options are but I can't believe the courts would allow my ex to keep receiving child support from me when my daughter hasn't even lived with her mother for the past six months. will the court grant my daughters wishes to live with her mother even if the reasons are not in her best interests? she knows she can do whatever she wants, living with her mother as her mother is a an alcoholic and has even smoked pot with my daughter. I need some smart advice and any legal input that is available.
Thanks.

The court has no way of knowing about your daughter's circumstances unless you tell the judge. Whether your daughter's behaviour can be changed now is up to you. If you want smart legal advice, make an appointment with a family lawyer in your area.
