Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Pettion to modify support

I got served with papers to modify my Child support.

1 has the court date ''Show Cause'' and Financial info worksheets

the other says ''citation'' on top

and says if i don't file a written answer with the clerk with 20 days a default judgment may be taken.

now my x denies hiring a lawyer. the child support office told me i didn't have to show up to the hearing.. WHAT YOU SAY.

i feel like I'm being mislead. is this a normal 3 year adjustment or am i in for a beating. do i need a lawyer? hope that's not to long.

Re: Pettion to modify support

If you got served you need to Answer and you need to show up at the hearing no matter what some clerk at the child support office says. The citation should show the name of the attorney who filed (individual attorney = your ex filed; AG = the state filed) I strongly suggest you get a good family law attorney immediately. You need one.
