Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Not sure where to post
My divorce was final is Oct 2003. He has terminated his parental rights and I have not seen or spoken to him since March 2004. In our divorce, he was awarded a 4 wheeler. This 4 wheeler has remained at my house growing weeds and who knows what else since then. He and his parents repeatedly said they would come and get it, but no one ever did. Finally this year, a neighbor asked if they could buy it. I didn't want any money, so I gave it to them for free. Today my ex mother in law saw the 4 wheeler at the neighbors house and is now angry. Can I get into trouble for giving it away since he basically abandoned it for 5 years?

Although your ex has the right to file an enforcement action to recover the vehicle, it is unlikely that a judge would support his claims. Your conduct was reasonable, assuming you have evidence or testimony to support your recollections.
