Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

power hungry grandfather

when my son was a baby his paternal grandfather got temperary custody of him. When he turned 3 years old he was given back to me. But I did not know that we had to go to court to do so. Therefore I have had my son ever since and he is 9 now. He has developed some anger issues and to get treatment, so I took him to a treatment center to try and find out the cause of this. When his grandfather found out he come up there with the old custody papers that had not been exercised in 6 years. My question is '' Now he is trying to take my son away again, because I took he to get help'', ''Are the temperary custody papers any good after him giving me my son back 6 years ago, just because he does not agree with the choice I made to get him help''. Something had to be done my son was trying to hurt himself at school and he wanted to get help. ''Can he take my son again?

Re: power hungry grandfather

I cannot answer your question since you did not give me enough information.

What I need to know is --

What was the final order by the court?

Is there a pending case still outstanding?

If there is a final order, that order controls until modified or the child reaches adulthood.

You need a certified copy of the last document signed by the Judge in your case.

Can you talk to the attorney that handled the matter years ago and see what the final outcome was in the case?

If you live in the Houston area, you can call me and we can discuss the matter over the phone.

I offer a free phone consultation for 15 minutes.

Good luck!
