Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I am pregnant due in about a month, and me and the father are no longer together (never married). He has expressed a desire to be supportive however so I was hoping to settle agreements outside of court. I would like to have that protection though in case one of us doesn't hold up our end of the agreement. My question is, if we go through the attorney general to set up child support/visitation, will they come after him to pay for my medicaid? I have been covered under pregnancy medicaid for almost the entire pregnancy and have no other medical coverage. I have heard (word-of-mouth) that if he is court-ordered to pay me child support, then the government will also try to come after him to pay the cost of my ob/hospital expenses that medicaid has covered. Is this true? I do not want to put him in that situation, we are still friendly. Thanks.
