Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Pregnant unwed mother/ Child custody questions

I found out that I am pregnant. The father of the child is engaged, and not interested in pursuing a relationship with me. I have a few questions.

Am I legally obligated to tell him that I am carrying his child if I choose to carry the child to term?

If I choose to have an abortion, am I obligated to notify him, or take into consideration his wishes in the matter?

What steps should I begin to take legally to secure custody of the child, child support, visitation, ect?

Will his parents have any rights to visitation? I am certain that they would want to be involved in the childs life if they were aware of it's existance.

I have no problem with the father having visitation and being involved, if he so wishes, however, I worry that his parents might pressure him to try to get full custody (because he is engaged to another woman, it would be easiest for them if I was completly out of the picture). He lives in a city about 2.5 hours away from me, but his parents reside in the same town as I do. Will this effect custody in any way?

Basically, are there any legal steps that I should be taking now, before the child is born to protect myself?

Thank you so much.
