Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
I have a problem. A girl that I was sexually involved with on only 2 or 3 occassions is now coming forth and telling me she's pregnant and will seek child support as soon as the baby is born. I don't think it's mine because she's been with many guys, but at the same time she told me she was 16 weeks pregnant and 16 weeks ago we were sexually active so there's a good chance it could be mine.
The reason for my concern is that she and I agreed to just be friends with benefits. She lied and told me she didn't think she could get pregnant before we got intimate and now obviously she is. She comes from a very poor, hillbilly family and I'm worried that she just used me as a sperm donor and now she wants money from me for child support when we only hung out on 3 separate occassions. I told her I wanted nothing to do with her or the baby as from the getgo I never wanted anything more than sex from her and that was it! After 4 months of not speaking to each other I received a text yesterday morning telling me she thinks it's a girl and that I better watch out because she's coming after me for child support as soon as the baby is born.
I'm really scared!! How much does it cost for her to obtain a court order in Texas for me to take a Paternity Test? If I refuse to take it what are the consequences? Is there anything I can do to get out of this??? She's a sick individual that comes from a very poor family that just wants to use me for money and a kid and now I'm stuck and don't know what to do!!! I never even knew her!!!! Please help!!!!

Kris

You definately need to talk to an attorney. I charge $1 per minute to meet with you and talk about your options. I would estimate 1-1/2 hours or $60 or $90.
It does not matter if she tricked you. After the baby is born, ask for a DNA test. If you are the Dad, you will be ordered to pay child support and carry health insurance on the kid.
If you refuse to take the test, you will be automatically found to be the Dad!
I don't agree with you -- you definately "knew" her! Definately in the biblical way!
No court can make you visit the baby but they can make you pay child support. There is no way to get out of it. If you die, your estate will owe child support. You cannot declare bankruptcy and get out of it.
I strongly urge you to retain the services of an experienced family law attorney.
