Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

We're in the process of name change (last) for my grandson, parents divorced no child support, he moved to another state. Also our attorney found him and sent papers to sign over parental rights he did not respond. Now judge ordered an adlitum for our grandson, but our attorney is still playing telephone tag with adlitum... a month now her words exactly....my question to you is and this is if you can give me a ballpark answer how long can a name change take? mind you we are a year in this legal situation, and there is no adoption involved. Thank you

Your attorney is probably in a better position to explain why this is taking so long. I would just set the matter for trial and see who shows up. It will either get done that day or the judge will tell you exactly what he or she wants done in order to be able to complete the matter.

Good luck!!
