Property in a divorce

My son got a divorce a few years ago and his wife was awarded the home he was contacted by a finance company that stated the home was 3 months deliquient and they told him that his divorce papers meant nothing and he was still liable for the house note. My quesiton is that true or does the Courts order put the responsibility on her.

The simple answer to the question is that the finanace company is probably correct. A more detailed analysis would depend upon the exact language from the decree or whether the ex signed a Deed of Trust to Secure Assumption(which would be good for your son).
