Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Property inherited after Marriage

My wife inherited oil and gas wells after we were married. These wells are in Texas. Now that we are divorcing, am I entitled to any of this property?

Re: Property inherited after Marriage

Things received through inheritance or gift are usually a person's separate property.

2 simple examples:

If you gave her a bracelet, that would be her separate property.

Or, if you received a gun from your father, that would be your separate property.

If she co-mingled the separate property with community property, then it might not be considered her separate property.

You need to talk to an attorney about your situation.
