Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Property

There is a will that states that a 2 acre property will be divided amongs 12 children. At this point the taxes have not been paid since 1991 when the owner of the property was still alive. I want to use a legal form which permits the owners of the property to sell their share or keep their share. At this point I am contacting all 12 siblings to actually find out who wants to keep their share and who wants to sell their share.

Re: Property

is this property in a trust? are you the trustee? if so, then you might be able to transfer the propery using a grant deed.

Re: Property

You really didn't ask a question.

Still, have you checked to be sure the property hasn't been sold for unpaid taxes?

Your idea of information gathering is good, but you are going to need an attorney before this is all over if you ever want to have clear title to the property.

This is an excellent opportunity for a good lawyer to prepart this property properly for transfer from the estate to the survivors or a great opportunity for a well-meaning layman to mess up for generations. Get a lawyer -- or not.
