I purchase a home as a single woman in Houston, Texas. I am now married and would like to refince, does my husband need to be added on the deed because I'm married even if I bought the house as a single woman?

He does not need to be added to the deed, however, he will be required to sign the deed of trust (mortgage) as part of the transaction because you are placing a lien on your homestead. A lien on homestead requires the signature of both spouses. Depending on whether his credit is being considered as a part of the transaction he may also be required to sign the new note. Some lenders will want him to be on the deed, but my experience is this frequently creates unintended consequences later on.
