Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

another question about changing the names on previously filed informal marriage

I recently legally changed my last name, and my spouse tried getting a new soc sec card with the new name, but the soc. sec. office says that we must have a marriage license that shows the new name....

We went to the marriage license office and they said they cannot change it to my new name....is there not any ammendment form or any way for me to change the last name on our marriage license? Anyone have insight on how to go about changing the marriage license?

Re: another question about changing the names on previously filed informal marriage

You legally changed your name, your spouse did not. When you married she took your name as it was at the time. It does not automatically change now just because yours did. She will have to petition for a change of name.
