Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

The question is concerning child support. In Texas I have been told that support is determined from 20 % of your income. Is that true? Also if you work alot of overtime will it be calculated into the 20 % or will it just be calculated on your regular income minus overtime?

It will be 20% of your NET income from ALL sources. This includes overtime, bonuses, and commissions. The Family Code says that, if possible, the calculation should be based on your average monthly income during the past year - total income divided by 12.

"Net income" is gross income minus taxes as shown on the tax charts that are in the Family Code (section 154.061 of the Family Code).

The 20% is for ONE child, if you don't have any "outside" children that you're responsible for.
