Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Question for Children's rights and custody intentions.....

Hello,

I am a 19 year old male with legal issues involving my girlfriends mother. She moved to Texas under her mothers concent and is the age of 16, her mother being of the weary dedication due to past problems in the last 2 weeks. Divorce has taken place and physical abuse was apparent in the earlier years. The sixteen year old daughter has confided in information reguarding her mothers mental stability and I find it quite apparent that her mother is not capable of helping her daughter. she doesn't have a job, no money, is relying on her father (the mother), and is mentally incapable of providing for her daughter. I on the other hand have been in North Carolina, I have several things in my name, car, appartment, and needless to say established credit....I did lose my job recently only to redeem myself in the actions to find another. Is there any way I can take custody of my girlfriend? Or is Emancipation an answer?

Chapter 31 of the Texas Family Code discusses emancipation. You might also review the Texas Penal Code sections 21.11, 22.011, (being VERY certain as to the age of the child), 25.04 and 25.06. Runaways are at real risk of serious danger. In the larger cities of Texas they are likely to find more trouble than they are equipped to handle. Children's Protective Services is established to help minors in difficult situations.
