Question About Getting a Passport for A Minor

I am applying for passports for my family and my child is from my husband's first wife. She is now deceased and I know that in order to apply for a passport I would need to show proof that I am her mother, what would be the best thing to do?

Re: Question About Getting a Passport for A Minor

I am assuming that, since you are referring to the child as "my child" and you mention that the child's biological mother is deceased, you have adopted the child. If so, the adoption order should be sufficient proof.

If you have not adopted the child, she remains a stepchild and therefore, unless a court order has given you conservatorship of the child, you will probably just need her father to apply for the passport instead.
