Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
A question about my rights
My wife left a few months ago and she got an appartment in Califonia. She used my name to get the Apartment without my consent, which she probably forged my signature. We are seperated. Does she have the right to do that saying she is still my wife and is in another State? I only know of this matter because I did a credit check up and found that she had done so. I am not even sure if she just used me as a cosigner. I dont talk to her. Any information you can provide will help me in this matter. Thank you.

Basically, if she forged your name, it is identity theft.
You can't be a co-signer unless you co-sign.
You can call any creditor listed on your credit report and ask them how their name showed up on your credit report.
If you suspect identity theft, you need to report it to the police and get a report # so you can give it to creditors and credit bureaus.
Identity theft is a real problem these days.
Don't assume that it was your wife.
It could be someone else!
Texas does not have legal separation. If you aren't going to be together, you might as well file for divore.
You can always contact the 3 credit bureaus and notify them that your identity might have been stolen. They will put a "fraud alert" on your account.
Good luck!
You should credit your credit file every 6 months!
