Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
question about safety
What would it be considered (if anything) when a father takes his 10 yr old son hunting, gets him to climb a tree blind, hands him 2 rifles to hold, and while the dad attempts to climb past his son, he falls from the tree 10'-12', leaving behind his crying son holding 2 guns? I am very upset that my ex-husband would have my child climb a tree blind. It is especially upsetting to me since I personally know of a father who died from a self-inflicted gunshot while he was trying to climb a tree blind. I have emailed my ex-husband and pleaded with him to not have my son climb a tree blind again. He feels that I should not worry. I would like to make sure he doesn't put my son in this type of harmful situation again. Is there anything I can do to prevent him from doing this again? Thanks for listening.

Re: question about safety
If you truly believe you son's safety and welfare is at risk you can have the activity stopped or monitored. However, beware you are up against a long tradition of fathers teaching their son to hunt.
