Legal Question in Family Law in Texas
Questions about marriage
I married, 21Jun1985, in Georgetown, Texas (90723 groom 19 bride 25 21-Jun-1985 [taken from this page:http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/tx/williamson/vitals/marriages/1985/willm85a.txt]). I didn't know that she was already married. She ('bride' [Possibly Garcia] and maybe a few other names)and her mother had a raquet of marrying her 11 daughters to illegal aliens so that they could gain citizenship. They were charging $2k per head. I didn't know that she was already married until about seven years after I married her. I needed to get a Top Secret clearance from the military. I explained to her that we were going to be investigated and she pulled out the marriage license from a previous marriage and told me about it. She probably didn't tell me everything but she did tell me what I've already told you in the entry above. My question is, are we really married? She was breaking laws (polygomy and immagration). So, I'm not certain if a marriage performed while commiting crimes against it's sanctity would invalidate it or not. I'm not a lawyer. Also, if we were not married and I've been in the military and other organizations for at least 20 years, have I been defrauding the United States government?

Re: Questions about marriage
One person cannot be married to 2 people at the same time. Your wife has committed bigamy - a felony. She can fix this by divorcing the other person she married, then your marriage would be legal.
