Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

How to get the rears amount of child support dropped?

I signed a VRPR terminating my rights to my son, but I am still in the rears as far as child support. When my ex goes to court for the termination/adoption hearing (her husband is adopting the child) can the judge order the rears amount be dropped or will my ex and I have to meet with the case worker with the OAG? We have talked about dropping what I owe so I don't pay any form of child support, even the rears amount, but can the judge order it or must it go through the OAG? I am currently in the rears for over $9000.

Depending on why the AG is involved your ex may or may not be able to waive the arrearage. This isn't a matter for some case worker. This needs to be handled by an actual attorney with the AG's office.
